The first community pebble mosaic workshop took place at our new studio at Gibraltar Point Centre for the Arts, Toronto Island, on December 6. Ten students began to learn the art by creating a one foot square mosaic of a wave pattern. When the new Ward's Square is installed, hopefully this coming spring, these mosaics will form a border around the renovated Landing Stage, a 24' long Victorian wrought iron structure.
There are two more workshops scheduled: January 8 and 23. Any interested graduates will then be helping to make the 12' diameter central mosaic that will be placed in front of the Ward's Island Association clubhouse.
Everyone is invited to visit the studio and see the works in progress.
UPDATE: Thanks to Manuel Cappel with help from David Lippett and plans by Alastair Dickson, we now have six new workbenches ready for our first pebble mosaic workshop. 10 people have signed up and we are ready for December 6 at Gibraltar Point Centre for the Arts.
